Abstract Active areas of research on chemical looping technologies for the conversion CO 2 to are contrasted and discussed , including current performance, methods material design, next steps in expanding their development. Generation from is interest sustainable chemistry engineering convert anthropogenic emissions into feedstock Fischer–Tropsch (FT), methanol gasoline (MTG), gas-to-liquid (GTL), other synthesis pathways fuels materials. Chemical strategies have been identified which not only produce CO, but also H O methane sources, supplying key component syngas. Configurations these materials economy potentially constitute carbon loop cycles as well sequestration industrial commercial Major by looping, collectively referred here CO2CL, Solar-Thermal Looping (STCL), Reverse Water Gas Shift (RWGS-CL), Reforming (CLR), Super Dry (SDR), Autothermal Catalyst Assisted (ACACL), Boudouard (RBR) terms process characteristics, historical development oxygen carrier (OC) material, state art future work needed advance scale-up technologies. This perspective centers around non-methane utilizing processes focusing phenomena transfer between gas molecules (OC).
